Emma Roberts marked her wedding to actor Cody John in Sun Valley, Idaho, with a custom Monique Lhuillier gown that reflected her long-standing appreciation for vintage style. Rather than opting for a traditional bright-white bridal look, the actor selected an off-white silk chiffon dress finished in a softly aged, tea-stained tone that gave it an antique appearance.

A Custom Design Built Over Nine Months
Monique Lhuillier’s team spent approximately nine months producing the bespoke gown, using more than 25 yards of silk chiffon and investing close to 1,000 hours in its construction. The designer developed a custom “Vintage Rose” color by treating blush-toned fabric to achieve the aged effect Roberts wanted. The shade was also a subtle reference to the actress’s middle name.
The dress featured a structured corset beneath layers of flowing chiffon, a high slit in the skirt and an asymmetrical lace shawl that could be removed during the celebration. Matching accessories included a chapel-length veil and a delicate lace voilette, reinforcing the gown’s romantic, vintage-inspired aesthetic.
Designed to Transform Throughout the Celebration

One of the gown’s defining features was its versatility. Lhuillier designed the dress so it could be worn in several different ways as the wedding progressed, allowing Roberts to remove elements, bustle the train and even reveal a strapless version without changing into an entirely new ceremony dress. According to the designer, the finished creation offered five distinct looks throughout the day.
That flexibility reflected Roberts’ desire for a bridal outfit that balanced classic elegance with practicality for the reception.
A Bold Change for the After-Party
For the evening celebration, Roberts departed from bridal tradition by changing into a black Monique Lhuillier ensemble drawn from the designer’s Fall 2004 archive. The two-piece look featured a Chantilly lace corset paired with a layered silk organza skirt, continuing the vintage theme while introducing a darker, more unconventional style.
Roberts said she liked the idea of doing something unexpected for the after-party, while still wearing a look that felt timeless and true to her personal taste.

The intimate ceremony took place on July 25 at Cody John’s family estate in Sun Valley, Idaho, with close family and friends in attendance. Roberts and John, who made their relationship public in 2022 and announced their engagement in 2024, chose wedding attire that reflected their understated approach to the celebration.
Rather than following conventional bridal trends, Roberts worked closely with Monique Lhuillier to create a gown rooted in antique influences and personal meaning.
