One of Lower Manhattan’s best-known restaurant addresses is preparing for a new chapter.
Major Food Group (MFG), the hospitality company behind acclaimed New York restaurants including Carbone and Torrisi, has announced plans to open a new American tavern and steakhouse inside the former Tribeca Grill space at 375 Greenwich Street. The restaurant, which has not yet been named, will be led by MFG co-founders Chef Rich Torrisi, Mario Carbone and Jeff Zalaznick.
A Landmark Address Returns to Life
The Greenwich Street property has long been regarded as one of downtown Manhattan’s signature dining destinations. Tribeca Grill operated there for more than three decades before closing in 2025, earning a reputation as a gathering place for celebrities, business leaders and neighborhood regulars.
The building remains owned by actor Robert De Niro, who co-founded Tribeca Grill in 1990. According to Major Food Group, discussions with De Niro helped pave the way for the new project.
Honoring the Past While Creating Something New
Rather than recreate the former restaurant, MFG says the goal is to introduce an entirely new concept that respects the building’s history while serving today’s downtown dining scene.
Chef Rich Torrisi said the team has long admired New York restaurants that become enduring neighborhood institutions and sees the project as an opportunity to build a destination with its own identity while acknowledging the significance of the address. Jeff Zalaznick described the location as one of the city’s most important restaurant spaces and said the company hopes to write its next chapter.
The restaurant will be designed as an American tavern and steakhouse, a concept that blends classic hospitality with a contemporary approach to dining. While few design or menu details have been released, the company says the dining room will be reimagined for a new generation of guests.

Since its founding, Major Food Group has grown into one of New York’s most influential hospitality companies, operating sought-after restaurants including Carbone, Torrisi, Sadelle’s, Dirty French, The Grill and ZZ’s Club, while also expanding internationally.

What Comes Next
An opening date and the restaurant’s official name have not yet been announced. Industry reports indicate the project is expected to debut in 2027 following redevelopment of the historic space.
For New York’s restaurant scene, the reopening of one of Tribeca’s most recognizable dining rooms marks the return of a landmark address that has played an important role in the neighborhood’s culinary history. While the concept will be entirely new, Major Food Group is betting that the combination of a celebrated location and its own hospitality style will establish another long-term destination in the city.
